Position Details

• Position: Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) – Blood Bank
• Department: Clinical Laboratory / Blood Bank

• Contract Length: 13 weeks

   

Schedule and Requirements

• Shift: Night Shift – 4×10 hours
• Hours: 9:30 PM – 7:30 AM (may flex to 8:00 PM as needed)

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years Clinical Laboratory Scientist experience (Hard Stop)
• Seasoned Blood Bank traveler with multiple Blood Bank travel assignments (Hard Stop)
• Recent/current Blood Bank experience within the last 2 years (Hard Stop)
• Experience in a Level I Trauma Center (Required)
• Experience in a 300+ bed hospital (Hard Stop)
• Must be able to work independently on night shift
• Epic experience (Hard Stop)
• Experience with Blood Bank software (any Blood Bank software required)
• Teaching hospital experience (Preferred)

Required Certifications

• ASCP Blood Bank (ASCP-BB) – Required
• California CLS License – Required before submission

Key Responsibilities

• Perform Blood Bank testing including:
  • ABO/Rh typing
  • Antibody screening and identification
  • Crossmatching
  • Antigen typing
  • Transfusion reaction workups
  • Blood product preparation and storage
• Handle 30–50 Blood Bank specimens daily
• Perform high-volume type & screen and crossmatch testing
• Maintain quality assurance and laboratory safety standards
• Work independently during night shifts
• Utilize Epic Beaker and Blood Bank software for documentation
