Position: Certified Surgical Technologist
Must have CST and BLS certifications at time of submission. - Housing or transportation is not provided; the agency is responsible for assisting employees. - Start date will be not less than 6 weeks after fingerprints are processed.
Job Description: - Scrub in on surgical procedures under nurse supervision for various advanced surgeries. - Anticipate surgeon preferences for materials or instruments and respond accordingly. - Update the nurse as necessary based on equipment needs and physician preferences. - Set up sterile tables with instruments, equipment, supplies, and medications for surgeries. - Clean and prepare instruments for sterilization. - Monitor supplies and instruments for sterility. - Inventory and order supplies as needed. - Develop and implement educational programs and learning aids for the department. - Provide input on changes in policies, procedures, and patient care standards. - Serve as backup for emergency cases requiring additional surgical technicians. - Participate in assigned committees.
Education, Certifications, and Licenses: - High School Diploma or GED - Completion of a technologist training program accredited by a recognized accrediting agency - Surgical Technologist Certification (CST) - Current BLS certification Experience Required: - At least 1 year of experience Knowledge of: - Anatomy, physiology, appropriate instrumentation, suturing materials, needles, prosthetic devices, and other supplies - Wound healing and complications - Normal growth, development, and life cycle changes Skills in: - Sterile technique and processing - Patient positioning - Handling requests made during surgery Shift Details: Days, 4x10 hours
