- Contract Length: 13 Weeks
- Shift: Day Shift
- Schedule: 4×10
- Experience Required: 1 Year
- Weekly Pay:$2,100 to $2,300
Roles and Responsibilities
- Prepare operating rooms, surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies for scheduled procedures
- Assist with sterile field setup and maintain strict sterile technique throughout surgical procedures
- Pass instruments, supplies, and equipment to surgeons and surgical assistants as needed
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team during procedures
- Assist with patient positioning, skin preparation, draping, and other pre-operative activities
- Perform surgical counts of instruments, sponges, needles, and other items according to facility protocols
- Handle surgical specimens appropriately, ensuring accurate labeling and transfer
- Assist with room turnover and preparation for subsequent procedures
- Ensure surgical instruments and equipment are properly cleaned, transported, and processed according to infection prevention standards
- Maintain accurate documentation and follow operating room policies and procedures
- Monitor the sterile field and immediately address any breaks in sterile technique
- Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, anesthesia staff, and other perioperative professionals
- Follow infection prevention, OSHA, HIPAA, and patient safety standards
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient operating room environment
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program preferred
- Minimum 1 year of recent Surgical Technologist experience
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification preferred or required by facility
- Current BLS Certification required
- Strong knowledge of surgical instruments, sterile technique, surgical procedures, and infection prevention
- Experience supporting a variety of surgical specialties preferred
- Excellent attention to detail, organization, and communication skills
- Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced operating room
- Ability to anticipate surgical team needs and respond efficiently
- Commitment to patient safety and high-quality perioperative care
