Job Summary: Provides peri-operative care of surgical patients, under the directionof a Registered Nurse. Assures physical environment is appropriately preparedbefore patient arrival. Assists RN withdeveloping plan of care. Followsprocedures to ensure patient and employee safety.Essential Functions: Consistently uses an outward mindsetand puts forth exemplary effort in accomplishing his/her goals and objectivesin a manner that helps others to achieve their goals and objectives. Assists surgicalteam during operative procedures. Uses instrumentsand medical devices. Providesexposure, handles and/or cuts tissue and provides hemostasis and sutures. Uses technologyappropriately including safety standards and measures; follows infectionprevention standards. Uses evidence-basedtools, established policies, procedures and standards of care and practice. Engages inself-assessment, peer review, completes mandatory education and competencyassessments, accepts responsibility for ongoing professional development. Participates in unit-basedperformance improvement activities, staff meetings, supports change. Arranges andinventories sterile set-up for operation and passes items as needed tooperating team. Assists inpreparing and moving patients, and in cleaning the OR theater.
