This is a 13-week contract position.
Schedule
Day shift with a 5x8-hour schedule from 07:15 AM to 03:45 PM. Weekend call is required.
Job Description
The position requires a Certified Surgical Technologist First Assistant to support a variety of surgical cases in the operating room. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with surgeons and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care and safety during surgical procedures.
Responsibilities
- Assist in surgical procedures, ensuring the availability of instruments and supplies.
- Maintain aseptic technique and instrument processing.
- Perform first-assist duties including tissue handling, clamping, cauterizing, suctioning, irrigation, wound closure, and drainage tube placement.
- Provide thorough preoperative and postoperative care in accordance with procedural standards.
- Manage weekday and weekend call rotations effectively.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- 2 years of Surgical First Assistant experience required.
- Certifications: BLS, NBSTSA certification, CSFA, ABSA or equivalent required.
- Broad experience in general surgery, GYN, neurosurgery/spine, orthopedics, trauma and urology is required.
- Robotic surgery experience is preferred.
- Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred.
