Job Summary (List Format) for Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA):
- Provide skilled support services under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT).
- Implement treatment plans designed by the OT to help residents regain independence in activities of daily living (ADLs) and improve functional performance.
- Assist with resident evaluations and contribute to documentation of functional status and progress.
- Deliver direct therapy services safely, compassionately, and effectively.
- Monitor and document residents responses to therapy, promptly reporting changes to the OT.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and communicate relevant updates.
- Educate residents and caregivers on exercises and safety techniques to promote independence.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of adaptive/assistive equipment.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical records system.
- Adhere to facility policies, CMS guidelines, and professional standards of practice.
- Uphold ethical and professional conduct per state licensure and certification requirements.
- Work in a skilled nursing facility/long-term care environment as part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary team.
- May require physical tasks such as standing, lifting, and transferring residents.
