Position Overview
OSF HealthCare is seeking an experienced Cath Lab Technician to join its Cath Lab team. The department operates 6 cath lab suites and performs approximately 10–15 cases per day. The technician will be responsible for scrubbing, monitoring hemodynamics, and circulating during procedures.
The Cath Lab is a separate department from Interventional Radiology (IR) and Electrophysiology (EP).
Key Responsibilities
- Scrub for cardiac catheterization procedures.
- Monitor and document hemodynamic information.
- Circulate during procedures as assigned.
- Provide support for Cath Lab procedures in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Participate in the department's rotating call schedule.
- Respond to call within 30 minutes of being paged.
- Follow hospital policies, procedures, and patient-safety standards.
- Work rotating weekends and holidays as scheduled.
Required Qualifications & Certifications
- Previous Cath Lab experience is required.
- Pediatric experience is preferred, but not required.
- Experience with McKesson Cardiology is preferred.
- PACS experience is preferred.
- Required certifications:
- Active Illinois license or confirmation that the Illinois license application process has been initiated.

Department Details
- 6 Cath Lab suites/labs
- Approximately 10–15 cases per day
- Cardiologists are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
- A primary charge nurse is present from 0600–1530.
- The primary charge nurse does not routinely complete cases but will participate in call.
- Techs are not currently required to float.
- Hospital-provided scrubs are available.
- Department-specific orientation is typically 3–5 days.
Scheduling & Call Requirements
- 9-hour shifts.
- Rotating weekends and holidays.
- Weeknight call is assigned on a rotational basis.
- Weekend call is assigned on a rotational basis.
- Typically 8–9 call shifts per month.
- Holidays are assigned on a rotating basis.
- 30-minute call response time from the time of page.
- A mandatory call list is utilized when staff members are unable to fulfill their assigned call shift.
OSF Employment & Assignment Notes
- Local Rate: Clinicians with a permanent address within 50 miles receive a $25 reduction from the regular and overtime bill rates.
- Call-Off Policy: Equivalent of 12 hours every 13 weeks may be called off without penalty or requirement to pay for the shift.
- Orientation: Up to 12 hours of orientation are non-billable. Guaranteed hours do not apply during orientation.
- OSF is a Drug-Free Campus, and candidates must be able to produce a negative drug screen for all required panels.
