Cath Lab Technologist – Travel Assignment

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Cath Lab Technologist with strong X-ray experience to join our Cath Lab & Interventional Radiology team. The ideal candidate will have experience with both peripheral and coronary procedures, be comfortable caring for critically ill patients, and have experience working in a high-acuity STEMI receiving center.

CERNER experience is required.

Assignment Requirements

  • Position: Cath Lab Technologist
  • Specialty: Cath Lab & Interventional Radiology
  • Shift Options: 8-, 10-, or 12-hour shifts
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Call Requirement:
    • 1 night of call per week
    • 1 weekend of call approximately every 6th weekend
    • Call team remains until all cases for the day are completed
    • Traveler receives the following day off after call
  • Floating: No floating required
  • Unit Orientation: 1–2 days
  • Scrubs: Provided
  • Radiation Badge: Agency must provide a rad badge for the traveler

Required Qualifications & Certifications

  • Previous Cath Lab Technologist experience
  • Strong X-ray experience
  • CERNER experience required
  • Experience with both peripheral and coronary procedures
  • Comfortable working with critically ill patients
  • BLS
  • CRT
  • ARRT
  • Fluoroscopy certification
  • RCIS is not accepted in place of the required certifications

Department Details

  • Cath Lab & IR Department
  • 4 procedure rooms
  • Approximately 15–20 cases per day
  • Siemens and Philips equipment are utilized; experience with either platform is preferred but not required
  • Charge nurse available during the day
  • Circulating nurse serves as the charge nurse after hours
  • Cardiologist and respiratory therapist available on standby or working 24/7
  • In-house pharmacy available 24/7
  • Respiratory therapy support is available for cases requiring ventilators, with RT present in the procedure room as needed
  • Facility is a STEMI receiving center and manages a significant volume of STEMI cases each month

Procedures & Technology

Candidates should be comfortable working with advanced Cath Lab technologies and procedures, including:

  • Laser
  • Rotablator
  • Nitric oxide
  • IVUS
  • Impella
  • IABP
  • FFR
  • AngioJet
  • Coronary interventions
  • Peripheral interventions

Experience with Merge is a strong plus.

MyJourney Requirement

All MyJourney modules must be completed prior to arrival.

Travelers who have not completed all required MyJourney modules before arrival will be pushed back and will not be permitted to start the assignment. No exceptions.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is a highly experienced Cath Lab Technologist who can independently support coronary and peripheral procedures, work effectively in a fast-paced environment, and provide technical support for high-acuity and emergent cases, including STEMIs. Experience with Siemens or Philips equipment and Merge is preferred, but not mandatory.
