Position Overview

The Cath Lab Technologist plays a vital role in providing exceptional patient care during cardiovascular procedures. This position involves working in a fast-paced environment, supporting a range of diagnostic and interventional procedures within the catheterization lab.

Job Responsibilities

• Assist in performing coronary diagnostic and interventional procedures.
• Scrub and monitor cases, ensuring a high level of proficiency in technical skills.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver quality patient care.
• Maintain safety protocols and adhere to radiation safety measures.
• Participate in procedures from start to finish, ensuring all tasks are completed in a timely manner.

Shift Information

Schedules consist of rotating four 10-hour day shifts. The shifts may vary with times of 0700-1730 and 0930-2000, and all team members will rotate through these shifts with a focus on promoting consistency in scheduling.

On-call requirements include one weekend every seven weeks and a call shift during the week.

Team Environment

The Cath Lab operates with 4 to 5 labs per day, with a typical caseload of 20-25 cases. Each lab is staffed with 2-3 cardiovascular technologists to ensure patient safety and procedural efficiency.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Cath Lab setting is required.
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
• Required certifications include BLS, ACLS, and either ARRT or RCIS (registered or in process).
• A current state license is mandatory.
• Radiation badge must be provided by the agency; the facility does not supply these to travelers.
• Proficiency in coronary diagnostic and intervention procedures is essential.

Miscellaneous Information

This role may require flexibility in scheduling, including the possibility of block scheduling based on department needs and manager approval. Local candidates may be considered on a case-by-case basis. All requests for time off must be noted at the time of submission, as approval will be contingent upon facility needs.

When working during hurricane season (June through November), employees may be assigned to emergency response teams as needed.

Work Environment

This position is situated within an acute care hospital environment, with a total of 304 staffed beds. The facility utilizes EPIC for charting, and hospital-issued scrubs will be provided for Cath Lab personnel.
