Description

Job Title: Cath Lab Technician Profession: Clinical-Allied Specialty: Cath Lab Tech Duration: 18 months Shift: First Shift Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: No experience required. License: Kentucky Board of Medical Imaging and Clienttion Therapy - Radiography License. Certifications: BLS, ACLS, ARRT Radiography (R) Certification. Must-Have: Associate's degree in Radiology or related field. Description: Provides health care services using cardiovascular, endovascular, and neurovascular imaging and interventional procedures. Performs care requiring substantial specialized knowledge, judgment, and skill. Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains demeanor complementary to medical ethics. Provides appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure. Demonstrates competency through annual education and completes validation tools for unit-specific requirements. Competency includes IABP/Impella, hemodynamic monitoring, arterial/venous sheath removals and/or closure devices. Assists physicians during diagnostic and interventional procedures. Assists physicians during the implantation of a permanent pacemaker/ICDs. Practices aseptic technique and demonstrates competency with interventional procedures such as thrombectomy, stenting, angioplasty, IVUS, OCT, FFR, and structural heart. Manages complications such as air emboli, stroke, anaphylactic reactions, and cardiac tamponade. Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and co-workers to ensure a professional and courteous environment. Assumes responsibility for the provision of physical and psychological needs of the patient during the procedure. Contributes positively to a work environment through words and actions. Maintains professional composure and confidence during stressful situations. Maintains open communication regarding issues. Conducts all work activities with respect for the rights and wishes of patients, visitors, families, and co-workers. Maintains confidentiality of all hospital and patient information at all times. Participates in staff meetings as determined by management. Supports the organization’s mission and values. Practices standards of commitment to co-workers and standards of behavior. Promotes effective procedural workflow and works as a team to facilitate quality patient care. Follows attendance policy. Practices radiation safety and uses equipment safely. Utilizes ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable) for all exams. Performs and records quality control checks. Applies principles of radiation safety to patients, co-workers, and self.
