Job Title: Cardiovascular Invasive Tech Profession: Tech Specialty: Radiology Duration: 13 Months Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 10 Hours Experience: Minimum three (3) years of applicable experience License: IEMA License in Radiology Technology Certifications: BLS, ACLS, ARRT Registration in Radiology Must-Have: - Knowledge of hemodynamic concepts, cardiac anatomy and physiology - Ability to set up sterile table with appropriate supplies specific to each procedure performed - Knowledge of correct preparation and draping of patients - Proficient in setup of all procedures - Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English Description: To assist cardiologists in performing invasive and diagnostic/interventional cardiac/vascular and electrophysiologic procedures. Provide technical hemodynamic monitoring and interpretation using automated techniques. Provide care to meet patient needs and handle other duties as required and assigned. Assist in performing invasive coronary/vascular/EP diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures. Set up and operate a variety of electrical/imaging equipment and computers. Display good judgment and problem-solving skills. Organize and prioritize performance based on procedural findings. Advocate for patient's needs. Interpret hemodynamic and procedural results/outcomes. Select and operate procedural supplies/equipment based on procedural findings. Operate both monophasic and biphasic defibrillators. Effectively communicate and educate patients during procedures to alleviate anxiety. Recognize and assist with any anesthesia needs inherent in the care of deeply sedated or anesthetized patients. Collaborate with team members and other health care providers in planning patient care specific to procedures. Assume accountability for patient care by directing team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Effectively train and mentor team members. Interact professionally with vendors to ensure patient safety. Update knowledge and skills as equipment changes are implemented. Check and evaluate equipment to ensure adequate performance and safety. Manage digital archiving system ensuring safe storage of patient images and reports. Promptly notify appropriate personnel and remove any malfunctioning equipment. Report any equipment or supply malfunction or defective status to ensure patient safety. Demonstrate knowledge and ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve equipment issues. Demonstrate the ability to query archived images from deep archive storage. Provide care to patients undergoing invasive procedures in accordance with guidelines and standards. Report significant observations and reactions to appropriate personnel while documenting care provided. Maintain a working knowledge of aseptic technique. Assist in passing sterile guidewires, catheters, and other devices using aseptic technique. Prepare instruments for sterilization and prepare sterile fields. Observe for deviations from proper aseptic technique and ensure corrections are made. Provide accurate interpretation of EKG and alert physician of any irregular activity.
