Responsibilities
- Facilitate physician performance of invasive, therapeutic, and diagnostic cardiovascular procedures.
- Handle instruments, supplies, and equipment during procedures; maintain quality of sterile field throughout.
- Pass instruments to the surgeon, anticipate needs for additional supplies, and perform instrument counts with the circulator prior to incision and before closure.
- Prepare sterile dressings and secure dressings post-procedure; set up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, medications/solutions; assist in draping and room setup.
- Assist with turnover: clean and prepare room for the next patient; support prepping the room and team for subsequent cases.
- Maintain patient safety and quality care during operative procedures; document appropriately in the electronic health record system and support the team as needed.
- EPIC experience is required; CPR/BLS certification is preferred where applicable.
- Cardiology/heart-focused experience is required to support cardiovascular cases and maintain efficient workflow.
Requirements
- Active nursing license per the state of assignment
- Current BLS (CPR) certification
- At least two years of recent experience in the field
- Education: Associate Degree or Certificate of Program Completion in Surgical Technology
- EPIC experience required
- Ability to work in a fast-paced operative setting and support cardiovascular procedures
