Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit role requiring progressive or critical care experience and ACLS certification.

Details

  • Work in a newly established 16-bed Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit (CVPCU) within the Heart and Vascular Center
  • Care for complex cardiovascular medicine and cardiothoracic surgery patients transitioning from critical care or recovering from procedures
  • 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratio
  • Utilizes continuous invasive pressure monitoring, transvenous and epicardial temporary pacing, and vasopressor/inotrope infusion management
  • 12-hour PM-AM shifts (19:00-07:00), rotating and day shift only
  • 36 or 48 weekly hours

Requirements

  • Active RN license (NH or Compact) required
  • ACLS certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of progressive care or critical care nursing experience
  • Cardiology and cardiac surgery specialty experience required
  • Experience with continuous bedside monitoring (ECG, SpO2, BP, RR)
  • Experience with continuous invasive pressure monitoring (arterial line, CVP monitoring)
  • Experience with temporary pacing (transvenous and epicardial wire pacing)
  • Experience managing vasopressor infusions (phenylephrine, norepinephrine)
  • Experience managing inotrope infusions (milrinone, dobutamine)
  • Experience with chest tube management, phlebotomy, and peripheral IV insertion
  • Critical care experience highly preferred (cardiac ICU specific not required)
  • Charge RN and precepting experience preferred

Additional Information

  • Provide high-acuity nursing care bridging the gap between acute care and intensive care for cardiovascular patients
  • Strengthen cardiovascular assessment, telemetry, and clinical judgment skills in early recognition of patient deterioration
  • Collaborative progressive care setting supporting ongoing clinical development
  • Dress code allows any color scrubs per facility policy
  • Must reside outside a 75-mile radius to be eligible for this position
