Job Summary:
Intensive Care Unit Cardiovascular (ICU OH) in a high-acuity setting. This role involves caring for post-operative cardiovascular patients, including those with complex interventions such as VAD placements and transplants, with a strong emphasis on rapid assessment and critical thinking. The position offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced, specialized environment with seasoned staff and advanced equipment.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM), minimum of 48 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid licensure as a Registered Nurse, BLS (American Heart Association), and a minimum of 2 years of cardiovascular intensive care unit experience.
  • Patient Population: Post open heart surgical patients (CABG, Valve, Dissections, AAA, Vascular procedures, Carotids, post-cardiovascular events, STEMI, Unstable angina, Cardiogenic Shock, Cardiomyopathy, targeted temperature management, Pacing, severe heart failure, TAVRs, ventilated patients, COVID overflow, Post VAD placement, Post heart transplant).
  • Equipment & Skills: Proficient in airway management, invasive lines, transcutaneous/paced pacing, titration of multiple drips including vasopressors and sedation, interpreting EKG strips, and managing ventilators such as CPAP, BiPAP, high flow, and nitric oxide.
  • Team & Staffing: 24/7 coverage with charge nurses and house supervisor, PCT support with ratios typically around 1:12-1:15, in-house intensivists and cardiology providers, respiratory therapists, and telemetry monitoring staff.
  • Other Requirements: Ability to work in a high-stress, fast-paced environment, strong organizational skills, and effective communication. Must be able to interpret monitor strips and manage complex cardiovascular patients independently.
  • Additional Operational Notes: Proficiency with all ICU components, including management of drips, ventilated patients, and multiple invasive lines, is required from the outset. Candidates should be prepared for a demanding but rewarding environment.
