Job Summary
The healthcare provider is seeking a registered nurse specializing in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Cardiovascular for a night shift position. This role involves caring for post-open heart surgical patients, including those with vascular procedures, cardiac events, and patients requiring ventilator support. The position requires proficiency with cardiovascular ICU components and a strong ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
Job Details
- Position: ICU Cardiovascular Nurse
- Location: Healthcare facility in Illinois
- Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association); ACLS preferred; CCRN a plus
- Education: Active Illinois license or confirmation that application process has been initiated
- Experience: At least 3-5 years of cardiovascular ICU experience with ICU assignments, capable of managing complex cardiac patients independently
- Schedule: Night shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum 36 hours per week
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Titrate multiple drips including dopamine, dobutamine, levophed, epi, neo, vasopressin, and others Based on protocols and written orders
- Interpret cardiac strips and monitor patient vital signs connected to Philips systems
- Collaborate with Charge Nurses, House Supervisor, Respiratory Therapists, and early intervention teams
- Manage ventilated patients using various respiratory equipment including ventilators, CPAP, BPAP, and nitric oxide
- Utilize advanced cardiovascular intervention equipment such as IABPs, Swan-Ganz catheters, ECMO, External Pacemakers, and CRRT lines
- Provide comprehensive bedside care with a patient ratio of approximately 1:1 to 1:2, depending on acuity
- Participate in every other weekend and holiday rotations, and float to different levels of care as needed
- Submission Requirements:
- Last four digits of SSN
- Active IL license or proof of application
- Confirmation of negative drug screen as required by the facility
- Understanding of local policies, including Drug-Free Campus and call-off policy
