Job Summary
The organization is seeking an experienced Intensive Care Unit Cardiovascular (ICU OH) nurse to work in a dynamic and specialized unit. This role involves providing comprehensive care for cardiac and thoracic surgery patients, including those with heart and lung transplants, and various medical devices, in a hospital setting.
Job Details
- Position: Registered Nurse in Intensive Care Unit Cardiovascular (ICU OH)
- Location: Madison, WI
- Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: ACLS, BLS, WI or compact RN license, at least 2 years of recent acute care experience in the specialty, experience with CVVH machine and CVICU procedures, and passing a telemetry test prior to start.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience in cardiothoracic surgery, acuity adaptable areas, and community hospital experience.
- Be able to manage specialized cardiac equipment including CRRT (NxStage), IABP, Impella, LVAD, ECMO, and Zoll Thermoguard.
- Be familiar with patient care activities such as managing arterial lines, chest tubes, ventilator management, and post-operative cardiac care.
- Be prepared for a telemetry exam with a pass rate of 80% or higher, with two attempts allowed.
- Additional Information: The unit supports interdisciplinary teams with IV, respiratory, radiology, pharmacy, and social services, and cares for adult and geriatric patients requiring complex cardiac interventions.
- Submittal Requirements: Pass/fail telemetry test, two years of recent ICU experience in the specialty, and valid certifications.
- Location details: Parking permit required; transportation options available. University Hospital in Madison is a Magnet-designated facility ranked as Wisconsins #1 hospital and a leading teaching and referral center.
