The healthcare provider is seeking an experienced Critical Care Nurse specializing in Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) for a full-time opportunity. The role involves providing specialized nursing care to cardiac and thoracic surgery patients within a Level II Trauma Center situated in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The position offers a dynamic environment suited for professionals with a strong background in intensive care and cardiovascular procedures.

Job Details

  • Position Description: Registered Nurse (RN) with a minimum of 1-year ICU experience, including at least 1-year CVICU experience, is required.
  • Certifications and Education: BLS and ACLS certifications are mandatory. CCRN certification is preferred. A valid nursing license is required.
  • Schedule: Shift times are 12 hours, working days from 0700-1900 or nights from 1900-0700, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Handle invasive line monitoring procedures such as Swan Ganz, arterial lines, pacemakers (epicardial, transvenous), chest tubes, and cardiac medications including inotropes and vasopressors. Provide ventilator and tracheostomy management and interpret cardiac rhythms.
  • Preferred Skills: Competency in EPIC electronic medical record system, invasive line draws, and familiarity with cardiac surgical support such as ECMO, CVVH, IABP, and VAD.
  • Additional Information: Orientation includes one day of facility and unit orientation, followed by placement on the unit with a preceptor. The assignment features a 6-week schedule with the possibility of scheduled time off and adherence to fatigue policies limiting weekly working hours.
