Job Summary:
The ICU Cardiovascular (Intensive Care Unit Cardiovascular) registered nurse position is located in Charleston, South Carolina. This role involves providing specialized critical care to cardiovascular and neuro patients in a 28-bed ICU environment. The candidate will be responsible for managing complex patient cases, including post-op CABG, Impellas, balloon pumps, Swan Ganz, and neuro procedures such as aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage. The role requires adherence to unit policies, proficiency in advanced hemodynamics, telemetry interpretation, and ventilator management.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Nights shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week, starting 08/10/2026
- Required Qualifications: Valid BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale certifications; 36 months RN experience, with at least one year in an ICU setting; ability to care for 1-3 ICU patients, including ventilated patients; prior experience with Meditech documentation system; comfort with telemetry and advanced hemodynamics; neuro and CVICU experience preferred; proficiency in reading telemetry strips; BSN degree preferred; advanced certifications and TNCC preferred.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with CVICU procedures like CRRT, EVDs, bolts, and induced hypothermia treatments; previous successful travel nursing assignment in a Meditech environment; willingness to train for Neuro ICU or Cardiovascular ICU specialization.
- Additional Information: The unit uses mobile phones and workstations on wheels for documentation, with bedside shift reports as standard procedure. Travelers are the first to float and may be assigned to emergency department or PCU when needed. The department offers training for nurses interested in neuro and cardiovascular ICU care, with a focus on advanced skills such as CRRT and neuro procedures. The team values staff experience and technological proficiency, and strives to provide a high level of patient care.
