Travel RN opportunity in Peoria, Illinois for an experienced telemetry nurse seeking fast-paced adult cardiac care. Join a dynamic acute care team and make an impact on cardio thoracic telemetry patients in this 15-week travel nursing assignment.
Job Details
- Location: Peoria, IL
- Setting: Acute care cardio thoracic telemetry unit
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
- Assignment Length: 15 weeks
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130 - $2,250
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: Rotation required
- Charting System: EPIC
- Orientation: Approximately 1 shift or part of a shift, depending on prior experience
- Float Requirement: May float to other general medical units
Job Requirements
- Active Illinois RN license or confirmation that the licensure application process has been initiated
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification recommended
- Ability to independently interpret EKGs and read telemetry strips
- Experience titrating IV drips, including Cardizem and heparin
- Comfortable working in an adult acute care cardiac and thoracic environment
- Ability to complete a negative drug screen
- Strong bedside nursing skills and confident clinical judgment
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to adult telemetry and cardio thoracic patients
- Monitor cardiac rhythms and recognize changes in patient status
- Titrate IV drips per protocol and provider orders
- Care for patients with diagnoses such as MI, CHF, A-fib, COPD, pacemaker/AICD placement, and post-operative thoracic conditions
- Collaborate with charge nurses, monitor techs, PCTs, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Respond to a variety of patient needs in a busy acute care unit with a strong team environment
- Float to other general medical units when needed
- Maintain accurate documentation in EPIC while delivering safe, compassionate patient care
