Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry position requiring IL licensure, EKG interpretation, and drip titration skills.

Details

  • Acute care Cardio Thoracic Unit with telemetry monitoring, 70 beds
  • Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4-5 days and 1:5-6 nights
  • Patient population includes MI, CHF, A fib, COPD, pacemaker/AICD placement, lung surgery, chest tubes, esophagectomy, and general medical overflow
  • EPIC EMR used
  • 12-hour night shifts, 1900-0730
  • Every other weekend required (Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday)
  • Holiday rotation required for major holidays
  • Floating to other general medical units required
  • No call or standby requirements
  • 24/7 charge nurse and house supervisor support on unit
  • PCTs and dedicated monitor techs support the unit

Requirements

  • Active IL RN license or proof of application in process required
  • BLS (AHA) certification required; ACLS recommended
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
  • EKG interpretation and medication/drip titration skills required, including Cardizem and heparin
  • Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips (Phillips monitors) required
  • Negative drug screen required for all panels

Additional Information

  • Care for cardiac and thoracic patients including drip titration and respiratory equipment troubleshooting (CPAP/BiPAP)
  • Unit-specific orientation typically 1 shift, less if previously oriented at an OSF facility
  • Adult unit dress code: any scrub color permitted except children's or cartoon prints
  • Local rate applies for clinicians with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility; no radius restriction on eligibility
  • COVID vaccination not required
  • First-time travelers may be considered
