Join a leading acute-care hospital as a Cardio Thoracic ICU Registered Nurse in Chesapeake, VA. This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a beautiful coastal region, just minutes from Virginia Beach and Norfolk, surrounded by outdoor adventures, hiking trails, and waterways.

Assignment Details: Cardio Thoracic ICU RN needed for a 13-week contract with the possibility of extension. Candidates will be caring for step-down patients as well, due to the universal bed model. The schedule includes 3x12-hour shifts or 4x12-hour shifts, with every other weekend, floating, and holiday shifts required. 48-hour contracts are available, with overtime billed after 48 hours—please indicate the candidate's preference at the time of submission. Note: block scheduling cannot be accommodated, and candidates must be available to work on Christmas.

Patient Ratios: Typical ratio is 1:1-2.

Minimum Requirements:

• 2 years of experience in CVICU/CTICU; travel experience preferred.
• Active Virginia or Compact RN license in hand at the time of submission; no exceptions.
• Proficiency in Epic; no exceptions.

• CABG (Coronary Artery Bypass Graft)
• Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump
• Impella
• Post Cardiac Surgery (directly from the OR)
• Post Cardiac Surgery (not directly from the OR)
• Pre/Post Cardiac Cath/intervention
• Pulmonary Artery Line/Swan Ganz monitoring
• IV insulin protocols
• CVVHD/CRRT
• CVA/Acute Stroke management
• Assist with management of BiPAP, CPAP
• Care of Ventilated Patient
• High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
• Interpretation of ABGs
• Suctioning (ETT, NT)
• Ventilator Management
• Infection Prevention
• Isolation Precautions/Use of PPE
• Surgical Wounds with drains/Wound Vac

Required Certifications:

• BLS (American Heart Association only)
• ACLS (American Heart Association only)
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
