Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RN for a night shift position requiring telemetry strip interpretation skills and an active MA RN license.

Details

• Work on a 37-bed Medical Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
• Unit includes 10 semi-private rooms, 1 quadruple room, 1 triple room, 10 private rooms, and 1 negative pressure room
• Patient population primarily includes CHF, Atrial Fibrillation, Pulmonary Embolism, and Pneumonia diagnoses
• Also cares for patients with EtOH and Dementia with cardiac co-morbidities, as well as occasional surgical patients
• Patients often managed on Cardizem, Nitroglycerin, Lasix, and Heparin drips
• Provides care for NSTEMI, post-pacemaker, and post-cardiac catheterization patients with and without interventions
• RN to patient ratio is 1:5-6 on night shift
• Day shift includes a Charge RN without a patient assignment
• Uses EPIC EMR for charting
• Night shift schedule of 19:00-07:30 with every other weekend required
• 36 hours per week over a 13-week assignment
• Floating required to applicable units as needed
• Night shift positions do not rotate

Requirements

• Active MA RN license (NURSYS and BON verification required, conditional licenses not accepted)
• AHA BLS certification required
• Telemetry certification required
• ACLS certification optional (AHA preferred)
• Minimum 2 years of experience working in one location
• Minimum 2 years of experience working as a Traveler
• Must be able to read and interpret telemetry strips
• Knowledge of cardiac drip management required
• Nursing care experience for post-cardiac catheterization and pacemaker patients preferred but not required
• Flu vaccine required with no religious or medical exemptions allowed
