Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a Progressive Care Unit position requiring cardiac telemetry experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

  • Community-based teaching hospital with Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center designations
  • 18-bed Cardiac Telemetry/PCU unit with an average daily census of 18
  • RN to patient ratio of 1:3 or 1:4 depending on interventions
  • Patient population includes NSTEMI, STEMI, post-cardiac intervention, EP procedures, thoracic surgery, heart failure, and post-stroke cases
  • Cares for general, vascular, and thoracic surgical patients requiring cardiac drip titration (Amiodarone, Cardizem, Cardene, Dobutamine, Tridil)
  • Manages post-op day 2 open heart patients and respiratory failure cases requiring medium/high flow oxygen or NIPPV
  • Uses Philips Intellivue monitors in all rooms, Baxter IV pumps, and Omnicell medication dispensing
  • EPIC EMR used
  • 12-hour night shift schedule, 1900-0700, 36 hours per week on a 6-week schedule cycle
  • Every other weekend rotation required
  • No on-call requirements
  • Floating required within the critical care division or Intermediate Care

Requirements

  • Active RN license (NC or Compact) required
  • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 1 year of Cardiac Telemetry or PCU experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
  • Skilled in cardiac and hemodynamic monitoring, cardiac strip and rhythm interpretation, arterial line management, and drip titration
  • Experience with non-invasive ventilator care (BiPAP/CPAP), vascular lines, chest tubes/drains, and post-procedure site care required
  • Experience with post-EP pacemaker/ICD and post-pulmonary artery thrombectomy site care preferred
  • EPIC EMR experience required
  • 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN required
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration

  • Responsible for continuous cardiac monitoring and rhythm interpretation
  • Supported by 24/7 Respiratory Therapy and Hospitalist coverage, Rapid Response Team, Charge Nurse, and CNA support
  • Orientation includes 36 hours in week one covering NTO and online CBL modules plus a 12-hour unit-specific shift with an RN preceptor
  • Travelers required to work 75% of holidays
  • RTO subject to Resource Team approval
  • Scrub color required: Royal Blue
