Unit & Patient Population

This Cardiac Tele/PCCU unit provides care to adult and geriatric inpatients with actual or potential life-threatening multisystem and cardiac conditions.

Common patient diagnoses include:

• Sepsis
• Myocardial infarction (MI)
• Unstable angina
• Coronary artery disease (CAD)
• Complex cardiac conditions
• Patients requiring IV antiarrhythmic therapy
• Patients receiving vasoactive infusions
• Patients requiring anticoagulation therapy

Unit Capacity:

• 20 beds
• 20 rooms
• Average daily census: 14 patients
• Day-shift ratio: approximately 1:5

Clinical Skills & Procedures

Candidates should be comfortable providing care in a high-acuity cardiac telemetry environment, including:

• Cardiac telemetry monitoring
• Cardiac monitoring and emergency response
• Dysrhythmia interpretation
• Dysrhythmia management
• EKGs
• Non-invasive blood pressure monitoring
• Vasoactive medication administration
• Antiarrhythmic drug therapy
• Thrombolytic therapy
• Defibrillation and cardioversion
• Thoracentesis
• Management of patients receiving anticoagulation
• Recognition and response to deteriorating cardiac patients

Required Qualifications

Experience:

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience
• At least 1 year of Epic experience
• Recent Cardiac Tele/PCCU or comparable high-acuity cardiac experience
• Travel experience not required

Required Certifications:

• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS
• Active South Carolina RN license

Schedule & Weekend Requirements

Day Shift: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
Schedule: 3×12-hour shifts
Weekend:Every other weekend

Call: Required; volume managed according to unit needs.

Floating: Required. Travelers may float to like units and/or other facilities based on patient census and staffing needs.

Orientation & Support

The assignment includes 24 hours of orientation to help you become familiar with the unit, workflows, equipment, and facility expectations.
