Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Cardiac Telemetry RN for a night shift role requiring at least 2 years of cardiac floor experience and NC or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Cardiac Telemetry unit within a hospital setting
• Patient population includes AFib, CHF, ACS, CAD, valve disorders, cardiomyopathy, PVD/PAD, vasculitis, and carotid stenosis, among others
• Supports pre/post cardiac cath, CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR, LAAO/Watchman, VATS, carotid endarterectomy, and other vascular/thoracic surgeries
• Ratios vary by acuity: 1:4 for surgical step down and 1:5-6 for lower acuity
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45-7:15), 36 hours per week
• 13-26 week assignment lengths accepted
• Floating required following unit rotation, not first to float
• Weekend requirement of 4 shifts per 4 weeks (flexible)
• Uses Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR communication for medication, documentation, and reporting
• May be assigned to Storm Team/Hurricane Team and required to report during catastrophic events or mass casualty situations

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license required (pending license acceptable at submission)
• Minimum 2 years of cardiac floor experience required
• Current BLS and ACLS certification required; NIHSS preferred
• Skills required: cardiac telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC/stepdown care, sheath removal, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, post-MI care, pre/post cardiac cath care, cardiac drip management (with and without titration), chest tube management (Emerson/Pleuravac), CPAP/BiPAP, nasal cannula, and non-invasive airway management
• Preferred skills include arterial line management, wound care/wound vac, and charge nurse experience
• Epic charting experience preferred
• Must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Two professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required (pending references OK at submission)

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for cardiac telemetry patients including monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and post-procedure care
• 24-hour unit orientation provided
• Navy scrubs required
• First-time travelers not accepted unless they have more than 24 months of cardiac experience
• Local candidates accepted at a lower rate within 50 miles of the facility
• Former Novant Health/New Hanover employees must wait 12 months before reapplying and must disclose prior employment details
• Travel pairs allowed if placed on different units with separate schedules
• Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved (excluding holidays); no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment
• Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
• Pre-start and annual online modules required (approximately 8-10 hours for acute care roles)
