- Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics
- Patient Ratio: 1:4, with occasional 1:5 coverage at midnight
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Floating: Required to float to comparable units as needed
- Charting System: Epic experience required
- License: Compact or state RN license required at time of submission
Job Requirements
- At least 2 years of telemetry nursing experience
- Previous surgical telemetry experience required
- Open heart surgery experience required
- Vascular experience and groin/radial band management experience required
- Strong IV skills required
- NIHSS experience preferred with 2-3 years of telemetry experience
- ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Epic experience is a hard-stop requirement
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Ability to work flexibly and float between comparable units
- Must be willing to work 3 of 5 major holidays as needed
Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care to cardiac telemetry patients with complex medical and surgical needs
- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and promptly respond to changes in patient status
- Care for patients pre- and post-open-heart surgery and those recovering from vascular procedures
- Support patients with myocardial infarction, arrhythmias, heart failure, coronary artery disease, and stroke with cardiac involvement
- Manage telemetry interventions including dysrhythmia interpretation and treatment coordination
- Perform and assist with chest tube care, breathing treatments, CPAP/BiPAP, and trach care
- Administer blood products and support safe medication and drip management per unit protocols
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver efficient, compassionate, patient-centered care
- Maintain accurate documentation in Epic and uphold strong clinical and communication standards
- Adapt to unit needs, including floating to similar areas when required
