Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Cardiac PCU/Telemetry position requiring 2 years of surgical telemetry experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

• Work in the Cardiac Progressive Care Unit (PCU) of a hospital environment
• Care for patients with myocardial infarction, primary arrhythmias, pre/post open-heart and vascular surgery, coronary artery disease, heart failure, pre/post cath lab procedures, and stroke patients with cardiac involvement
• Support specialized structural heart patients including VAD and TAVR
• Patient ratio of 1:4, potentially 1:5 at midnight
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required to like units and sister facilities within the region
• Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required, must be in hand at time of consideration
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of surgical telemetry experience required
• Experience with open heart surgery and vascular (groin/radial band management) patients required
• IV skills required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• VAD and TAVR experience preferred
• Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
• 2 professional references covering 1 year of experience within the last 3 years required

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care including breathing treatments, chest tube setup/care, CPAP/BiPAP, trach care, and sternal precautions
• Administer blood and blood products
• Perform cardioversion, defibrillation, and epicardial pacer management
• Manage LVAD and open heart patients 24-28 hours post-op
• Perform telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Must commit to working 3 of 5 designated holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
• First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
• Former permanent staff at this facility may return as travelers after a 3-month separation, provided they reside outside a 50-mile radius
• Local candidates accepted at the standard bill rate
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility unless returning under the local candidate policy
