Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Cardiac Stepdown night shift position requiring EPIC EMR experience and ACLS, BLS, and NIH certifications.

Details

  • Stepdown Cardiac unit within a hospital setting
  • Night shift schedule (4x12 hours, 19:00-7:30)
  • 13 to 26 week assignment options with 48s or 36s hour schedules accepted
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Floating to other units or campuses required based on census needs, limited to units where competency has been demonstrated

Requirements

  • Active RN license (SC or Compact) currently in hand
  • Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
  • Medication and arrhythmia exam required
  • Minimum 1 year of recent experience in a stepdown cardiac unit
  • Minimum 1 year of EPIC EMR experience required
  • Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care/management
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and telemetry monitoring
  • Experience with chest tube management (Emerson/PleurEvac), tracheostomy care, and CVA care preferred
  • Experience with heparin protocols, PCA, and titrating cardiac drips
  • Knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE and cardiovascular post-MI and pre/post cardiac cath care

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care for cardiac stepdown patients including monitoring, medication administration, and emergency response
  • Utilize rapid response and code teams as needed
  • Orientation occurs every Monday with annual compliance training required
  • Pre-assignment testing and modules must be completed within 48 hours of receiving login credentials
  • Holiday coverage may be required per facility policy
  • Travelers must reside more than 100 miles from any facility in the health system to be eligible, with reduced eligibility for those 90-99.9 miles away
  • Night shift travelers in this specialty must live 50+ miles from the contracted campus, with those under 50 miles ineligible
  • First-time travelers are not specified as accepted or excluded for this role
