Description

American Traveler is hiring a night-shift RN for a Cardiac Stepdown/Advanced Heart Care unit requiring prior travel experience and current NIHSS certification.

Details

  • Work in the Cardiac Stepdown-Advanced Heart Care (AHC) unit of a certified stroke center
  • Blended acuity patient population with a ratio of 1:5-6
  • 13-week assignment on night shift, 1900-0700, with 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts available
  • Every other weekend required, negotiable
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Meditech charting system experience preferred

Requirements

  • Active KY or Compact RN license required
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (obtained within 2 years of start date)
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
  • Minimum 1 year experience working in a certified stroke center or stroke unit required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Stroke signs/symptoms competency (e.g. BE-FAST) required
  • Bedside dysphagia screening competency required
  • Familiarity with current stroke guidelines and performance measures for Acute Ischemic and Hemorrhagic strokes required
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and cardiac drip titration
  • Experience with arterial line, central line, PICC line, and peripheral line care/management
  • Experience with IV insulin protocols and heparin protocols
  • Experience with pre/post cardiac catheterization and pre/post cardiac surgery care

Additional Information

  • Provide advanced cardiac and stroke care within a Cardiac Stepdown/Telemetry environment
  • Utilize both on-unit and remote telemetry monitoring
  • Respond to cardiac emergencies using rapid response and code teams
  • Requested time off (RTO) must be submitted with application and approved RTO will be reflected on the confirmation document
  • Must work 2 of 3 designated holidays
  • Must reside within 30 minutes of the facility for emergency response availability
  • 65-mile radius restriction applies; local travelers are not accepted
  • Travel pairs are not accepted
  • Orientation begins on Mondays
  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this role
