PCU Registered Nurse (RN) – Surgical Telemetry Travel Nursing Job in Seattle, WA
Work as a PCU Registered Nurse in Seattle, Washington, caring for complex cardiac, vascular, and post-operative patients on a high-acuity surgical telemetry unit. This 26-week on-site travel nursing assignment offers the opportunity to join an experienced progressive care team and collaborate with strong interdisciplinary support. Located in Seattle’s 98122 area, this assignment provides access to diverse dining, arts, parks, and convenient transportation throughout the city.
Travel Nursing Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,830–$1,930
- Location: Seattle, Washington 98122
- Assignment Dates: October 19, 2026 – April 19, 2027
- Contract Duration: 26 weeks
- Healthcare Setting: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Surgical Telemetry
- Shift Duration: 12-hour nights
- Shift Schedule: 3 shifts per week, approximately 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.
- Patient Population: Adults and geriatric patients
- Patient Ratio: Typically 1:4, with occasional 1:5 assignments at midnight
- Weekend Coverage: Every other weekend; flexibility to meet unit needs is required
- Floating: Required to comparable units as needed
PCU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license eligible for practice in Washington; an active compact license must be in hand at submission when applicable
- At least 2 years of recent PCU, progressive care, or surgical telemetry nursing experience
- Previous travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers are not eligible for this assignment
- Recent surgical telemetry experience caring for open-heart surgery and vascular surgery patients
- Experience with radial band and groin site management, IV therapy, and post-cardiac procedure care
- Strong telemetry nursing experience, including dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Epic electronic health record (EHR) charting experience is required
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications
- Ability to care for patients with chest tubes, sternal precautions, cardiac drips, and complex post-operative needs
- Willingness to float, work weekends, and provide holiday coverage according to assignment needs
PCU RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients with myocardial infarction, suspected MI, dysrhythmias, coronary artery disease, heart failure, vascular conditions, and stroke with cardiac involvement
- Care for patients before and after open-heart surgery, cardiac catheterization, angiography, and other cardiac procedures
- Monitor and interpret telemetry, recognize changes in cardiac rhythm, and initiate appropriate interventions
- Manage stable cardiac and vasoactive medication infusions in accordance with unit protocols
- Perform chest tube setup and care, epicardial pacer management, sternal precaution education, and post-operative assessments
- Support patients requiring CPAP, BiPAP, tracheostomy care, respiratory treatments, and oxygen therapy
- Administer blood and blood products safely and monitor patients for complications
- Provide care related to LVAD and other advanced structural heart therapies as appropriate
- Manage central lines, PICC lines, ports, surgical drains, wound care, IV therapy, and vascular access sites
- Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, rehabilitation, rapid response, IV teams, and other interdisciplinary partners
- Float to like units when needed while maintaining safe, patient-centered care
