- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,830–$1,930
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, approximately 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.; 36 hours per week
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend; flexibility to meet unit needs is expected
- Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients
- Typical Ratios: Approximately 1 RN to 4 patients, with higher-acuity assignments generally 1:3
- Floating: Required to comparable units based on staffing needs
PCU Registered Nurse Job Requirements
- At least 2 years of recent Registered Nurse experience in PCU, progressive care, or surgical telemetry
- Recent experience caring for post-open-heart surgery patients, including patients within the first 24–28 hours after surgery
- Strong cardiac telemetry experience, including dysrhythmia interpretation and management
- Experience caring for vascular surgery patients and performing groin or radial band management
- Previous travel nursing experience required; this assignment is not open to first-time travelers
- Epic electronic medical record experience required
- Active Registered Nurse license eligible for practice in Washington; compact license must be in hand at submission when applicable
- Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Ability to float to comparable units and work required weekends and holidays as scheduled
- Strong IV skills and experience with cardiac monitoring, chest tubes, sternal precautions, and stable cardiac drips
Cardiac Surgical Telemetry RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care for patients with myocardial infarction, suspected MI, coronary artery disease, heart failure, primary arrhythmias, vascular conditions, and cardiac-related stroke presentations
- Care for patients before and after cardiac catheterization, including procedures with or without interventions
- Manage patients following open-heart surgery, including chest tube care, sternal precautions, epicardial pacer management, and close postoperative assessment
- Continuously monitor telemetry and identify, interpret, and respond to dysrhythmias and changes in patient condition
- Administer blood and blood products and manage ordered therapies, including heparin, insulin, amiodarone, antiarrhythmic medications, and other stable cardiac or vasoactive drips according to protocol
- Perform and support respiratory care interventions, including oxygen administration, breathing treatments, CPAP/BiPAP, and tracheostomy care
- Initiate and maintain IV access; provide central line, PICC, port, surgical drain, wound, and chest tube care
- Support patients requiring specialized structural heart care, including LVAD or TAVR-related monitoring when applicable
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, rehabilitation, rapid response, and other interdisciplinary partners
- Float safely to comparable units while maintaining high standards of patient-centered care, communication, and clinical documentation
