Job Title: Cardiac Cath Lab Tech II
Job Summary:
Demonstrates understanding of cardiac, vascular, respiratory, and renal physiology and pathology. Assists with orientation and training of Cath Lab staff and participates in relevant committees. Adheres to medical ethics principles and demonstrates thorough knowledge of ECG, including waveform morphology, wave patterns, and lethal arrhythmias. Recognizes and interprets ECG changes related to heart chamber enlargement and myocardial infarctions, responding appropriately using ACLS standards. Understands cardiac medications, their pharmacokinetics, and proper documentation. Alerts physicians to abnormalities in clinical laboratory values and performs cardiopulmonary resuscitation during cardiac arrest. Monitors diagnostic cardiac catheter procedures and percutaneous interventions, differentiating between various techniques and devices. Identifies coronary anatomy, cardiac pressure waveforms, and calculates hemodynamic parameters. Ensures proper setup for diagnostic heart catheterization and monitors patients safely during procedures. Demonstrates knowledge of thrombolytic therapy, intravascular imaging technologies, electrophysiologic testing, and implantable devices. Operates Cath Lab fluoroscopy systems to ensure optimal visibility for procedures.
Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
- Graduate of an accredited program in Allied Health Sciences (e.g., Cardiovascular Technology, Radiologic Technology, Respiratory Therapy, Exercise Science, or Cardiac/Vascular Sonography)
- Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS), Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES), or Radiology Technologist (ARRT) with Cardiac Interventional (CI) or Vascular Interventional (VI)
- Valid BCLS certification
- ACLS certification required within six (6) months of hire
