Registered Nurse (RN)

General Information

This position involves working in a clinical setting with advanced cardiovascular procedures and patient care management. The primary focus will be on providing care to patients with cardiovascular diseases, including conducting diagnostic procedures and assisting in complex therapeutic interventions.

  • 2 Catheterization Labs
  • 2 Hybrid Peripheral/OR Labs

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in cardiac care with proficiency in coronary, structural heart, complex PCI, and peripheral procedures.
  • Travelers must reside at least 100 miles from the facility.

Patient Care Responsibilities

Care will be directed towards patients with various cardiovascular conditions, including but not limited to:

  • Coronary artery disease
  • STEMI
  • Cardiogenic shock
  • Complex total occlusions
  • Diagnostic catheter procedures
  • Valvular disease
  • Renal disease
  • Carotid stenosis
  • Limb salvage
  • Peripheral stenosis
  • Thrombosis disease
  • Impella insertion
  • LVAD insertions

Patient Ratios

Registered Nurse (RN): 1:1 patient ratio

Required Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

Qualifications

Education and skills required include:

  • Completion of a nursing education program approved by a board of nursing
  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in South Dakota
  • Critical patient assessment skills
  • Proficiency in the administration of vasoactive and sedation medications
  • Skills in sterile technique, air management, laser and lithotripsy atherectomy, and cardiac cath lab & peripheral IV skills

Devices Used

  • Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP)
  • Impella
  • Rotoblator
  • Penumbra

Support on the Unit

No Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is onsite. Phlebotomy and IV/VAT support is not available.

Charting System

Experience with the following systems is required:

  • EPIC (required)
  • Epic Cupid (preferred)
  • Alaris
  • Omnicell

Orientation and Scheduling

Orientation consists of 4 days with 10-hour shifts. Scheduling includes:

  • Weekend rotation: Q4 weekends
  • Holiday expectations: Potentially 1 per assignment

Time Off Approval

Requests for time off must be submitted and approved through the Manager.

Additional Notes

  • Scrub color for procedural areas will be provided.
  • Free parking is available.
