This role provides direct patient care and clinical support under the supervision of registered nurses. It ensures safety on the unit and engages patients in therapeutic activities. The Psychiatric Technician supports children and adolescents with daily needs during their hospitalization. Clinical tasks include phlebotomy, EKGs, and point-of-care testing. Care is provided as part of a trauma-informed and developmentally sensitive model. A high school diploma or GED is required, along with two years of full-time experience in nursing or psychiatric/behavioral healthcare. Alternatively, a satisfactory combination of education, training, and experience may be considered. All candidates must possess a minimum of a high school diploma or GED. Completion of a recognized crisis intervention training is required. Successful completion of an appropriate training program in the application and use of restraints and seclusion is essential.
