Med Ninjas is seeking a travel nurse RN Behavioral Health for a travel nursing job in Des Moines, Iowa.

Local Radius rule:  No locals -- All candidates must be at least 50 miles from the facility (based on drivers license)

Employee Separation Policy:  Any past employee of UPH whether FTE, or PRN for the UPH float pool, cannot work travel in another Market no matter which facility they currently work at, or have worked at within the past 12 months.  If they worked travel at UPH (not FTE or PRN), the separation policy does not apply

HOLIDAY update:  unless the Unit is closed, your contractor is required to work 1-2 of 3 upcoming Summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day)

 

  • NBO: 16 hrs
  • EMR: EPIC
  • OT/Holiday: 1.15x multiplier
  • Call Back:  1.5x multiplier with 2 hr CB minimum
  • On Call: $9/hr
  • Charge/Precept: $6/hr

Billable OT: 

  • 36-40 hrs/week, OT billable after 40
  • 48 hrs/week, OT billable after 48


UNIT Info

  • Bed Size:  Geri: 12; Adolescent: 12; Adult: 24
  • Ratios: can be up to 1:4-6 depending on Unit/Shift
  • Patient Types:  Acute psychiatric patients; Major Mental Health Illness, Chronic behaviors that can include violence, aggression, mania, self harm 
  • Equipment competency:  restraints
  • Scrub colors:  Navy Blue, solids


Will be required to float across all Des Moines campuses to like units.

Submission Requirements

Orientation Date: 9/28, 10/12 (sooner start will be prioritized)
HOLIDAY update: Unless the Unit is closed, your contractor is required to work 1-2 of 3 upcoming winter holidays; Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years

Patient Types:  Acute psychiatric patients; Major Mental Health Illness, Chronic behaviors that can include violence, aggression, mania, self harm  

  • 15 months of experience in Psych/BH capacity [required]
  • EPIC experience [required]
  • 1st time travelers accepted with 12 months of Psych/BH experience
  • recent/current Inpatient experience [highly preferred]
  • experience with all age groups; adolescent, adults, geri patients [required] --- "home unit is Geri"
  • de-escalation certificate preferred to be active... can obtain during onboarding (MOAB or CPI) [preferred]


PROFILE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Work history/resume/employment history must have 24 months of current psych/behavioral health experience [required]
  • Skills Checklist must be specific to the discipline listed on the job (psych/behavioral health) – [required]
  • Nursy’s must state Active Iowa/IA license or compact/Multistate at time of submission – [required] [document]
  • Professional Reference/Reference Check - charge/supervisor/nurse manager/director/CNO/COO performance evaluation/reference from within 24 months of today's date [preferred]
  • Driver’s License [document] [required]
  • de-escalation certificate required:  MOAB, MAB, CPI, SAMA [document] [highly preferred] -- can obtain during onboarding
  • AHA/Active American Heart Association or ARC/AMERICAN RED CROSS BLS; basic life support – [document] [required]
