  • Orientation: Unit and charting orientation included before floor assignment

Job Requirements

  • Active Illinois RN license, or proof that the application process has been initiated
  • Prior ICU or Intermediate/Stepdown nursing experience with a 3:1 or 2:1 nurse-to-patient ratio
  • Progressive care or telemetry-only experience is not sufficient
  • Strong tracheostomy and ventilator experience required
  • BLS certification required
  • ACLS certification recommended
  • Ability to care for patients with complex medical and cardiac conditions
  • Comfort working nights, weekends, and rotating holidays

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality bedside care for stepdown patients with complex cardiac and medical needs
  • Monitor and manage patients with diagnoses such as CHF, COPD, sepsis, DKA, renal conditions, pneumonia, and post-surgical recovery
  • Titrate medications and drips as clinically indicated, including Cardene, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dobutamine, Heparin, and vasopressors
  • Care for patients requiring BiPAP, CPAP, trach care, ventilator support, chest tubes, NG tubes, G-tubes, PICC lines, and central lines
  • Collaborate with charge nurses, PCTs, and the broader interdisciplinary care team to support safe patient flow and quality outcomes
  • Interpret bedside monitoring and work closely with telemetry support while confirming rhythm strips as needed
  • Float to other appropriate units based on experience and patient care needs
  • Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care while maintaining strong clinical judgment and attention to detail
