Emergency Department Registered Nurse

Assignment Duration

This is a 22-26 week contract position, with a requirement to run through January.

Schedule

Full-Time day/night variable shift consisting of 3 shifts of 12 hours each, scheduled with rotations including holidays and on-call shifts.

Job Description

The Emergency Department Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high-quality compassionate care to patients and families. The ED RN assesses patient needs, identifies urgent or emergent care priorities, and collaborates to provide direct care, applies appropriate interventions, and evaluates patient progress. This role requires skill in managing life-threatening and routine emergency situations while providing support to patients and their families.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting triage and establishing care priorities in accordance with ESI training.
  • Assessing patients of all age groups and documenting deviations from norms.
  • Encouraging mutual trust among team members to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
  • Preparing patients for diagnostic procedures and ensuring effective discharge planning.
  • Providing education and resources for post-emergency care to patients and families.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

  • Two years of acute hospital experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • One year of experience in an Emergency Department setting.
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and Stroke Certification (AHA or RQI).
  • Valid New York State RN Licensure.
