Short Description:

The Trauma Registrar is responsible for the accurate collection, abstraction, coding, and management of trauma patient data for the Trauma Registry. This position supports trauma program performance improvement, patient safety, research, injury prevention, and trauma center verification activities.

 

  • Abstract, code, and enter trauma patient data into the trauma registry.
  • Assign ICD-10-CM/PCS, AIS, and injury severity scores.
  • Maintain data accuracy through validation and quality reviews.
  • Generate reports for trauma program leadership, research, and performance improvement activities.
  • Support ACS verification readiness and trauma registry compliance.
  • Participate in trauma research and specialty projects.
Experience Required:
  • Healthcare-related education and experience preferred. Knowledge of trauma registry operations, coding, medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology required.
Education Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required AND Medical Terminology Course or Equivalent Experience.
License/Certification Requirements:
  • Within one year of hire: Trauma Registry Course (TRC), Trauma-specific ICD-10 Coding Course, and AAAM AIS Coding Course. Ongoing requirement: Minimum of 8 hours of trauma-related continuing education annually.
Salary Min ($): USD $25.00 Salary Max ($): USD $42.50
