Summary
The Transportation Supervisor is an experienced individual contributor responsible for independently coordinating and executing transportation services supporting Freeman shows and events. This role manages transportation activities from quoting and planning through execution, issue resolution, documentation, and billing support.
The Transportation Supervisor operates in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and is expected to exercise independent judgment when evaluating freight, determining appropriate transportation solutions, coordinating carrier services, and resolving exceptions.
This role is particularly critical during show move-out, when Supervisors may be required to make real-time transportation decisions involving routing, carrier selection, packaging requirements, documentation, freight readiness, and other shipment needs, often within compressed timelines and with incomplete information.
This position will support our Transportation team. It is eligible to work a hybrid schedule, generally requiring work in-office and/or show-site 2-3 days per week. We have headcount available in the following areas:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
+ Independently coordinate and execute inbound and outbound transportation for Freeman shows and events.
+ Evaluate shipment requirements and determine appropriate routing, carrier, equipment, and transportation service based on freight characteristics, customer requirements, timing, and show-site conditions.
+ Make independent day-to-day transportation decisions within established guidelines and use sound judgment to resolve issues and exceptions.
+ Provide transportation estimates and service recommendations to exhibitors, show and event teams, Sales, Project Management, and other Freeman stakeholders.
+ Coordinate directly with carrier partners to schedule pickups and deliveries, confirm capacity and service requirements, communicate changes, and resolve service issues.
+ Support show move-in and move-out transportation activities, including on-site support as required.
+ During show move-out, evaluate freight and documentation to determine appropriate transportation arrangements when shipment instructions are incomplete, unavailable, or require modification.
+ Assess freight readiness and packaging to determine whether additional packaging, protection, palletization, wrapping, crating, or other services may be required for safe transportation.
+ Resolve transportation issues involving delayed or missed pickups, carrier availability, damaged or lost freight, shortages, incomplete documentation, changing customer requirements, and other service exceptions.
+ Take ownership of transportation issues through resolution and escalate situations when they fall outside established authority, policy, or available transportation solutions.
+ Maintain accurate transportation documentation and system records, including routing information, shipment details, carrier information, and other required documentation.
+ Review transportation information for completeness and accuracy to support timely and accurate customer billing and carrier payment.
+ Assist with the investigation and resolution of freight claims, shortages, damages, billing discrepancies, and other transportation-related issues.
+ Maintain productive working relationships with Freeman’s carrier partners and coordinate effectively with Freeman Sales, Operations, Project Management, branches, and other internal teams.
+ Provide timely and professional communication regarding shipment status, transportation requirements, service issues, and resolution plans.
+ Follow established Freeman Transportation procedures, guidelines, carrier agreements, and applicable transportation requirements.
+ Identify opportunities to improve transportation execution, customer experience, accuracy, and efficiency.
+ Perform other duties and responsibilities as required to support Freeman Transportation and show/event operations.
Education & Experience
+ Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university preferred; High School Diploma or Equivalent with relevant work experience is required.
+ Previous experience in transportation, logistics, freight operations, event logistics, or a related field preferred.
+ Working knowledge of freight transportation, carrier services, routing, shipment documentation, and freight handling practices.
+ Demonstrated ability to make independent decisions and solve problems in a fast-paced operating environment.
+ Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate transportation documentation and billing information.
+ Strong customer service and communication skills.
+ Ability to manage multiple priorities and remain effective under significant time constraints.
+ Ability to use transportation systems, business applications, and standard productivity tools necessary to perform the role.
