Sturgis Public Schools is seeking an experienced, organized, and collaborative leader to serve as the Transportation Supervisor. This position is responsible for planning, directing, and supervising the district's transportation operations while supporting the district's mechanics, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient services for students and staff.
The Transportation Supervisor provides leadership for daily transportation services, including routing, scheduling, fleet maintenance coordination, regulatory compliance, driver supervision, and student transportation safety. The successful candidate will possess strong communication skills, a commitment to customer service, and the ability to lead a team in a fast-paced environment while maintaining the highest standards of safety and operational excellence.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelve (12) month contract as approved by the Board of Education. All other working terms and conditions of employment established by the Board of Education.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of administrative personnel.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of parents or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to troubleshoot and solve practical problems. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works indoors and will occasionally work outdoors. The employee will work near or with moving mechanical equipment. The employee may occasionally work with toxic or caustic chemicals such as petroleum products, degreasers, drain openers, sprays and non-household dust. The employee must be able to meet deadlines. Frequently the employee will work alone and occasionally will work irregular or extended hours. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally he/she will be required to work in a loud area.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, such as a tool box. Occasionally the employee will lift and / or move up to 90 pounds such as motors, jack hammers. The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as tables, scaffolds and cabinets. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
The employee is required to be able to hear conversations in quiet and noisy environments. Must pass drug screen and physical prior to employment.
