Executive Summary: We are seeking a Transportation Project Manager for an innovative rail engineering solutions provider and systems integrator. This onsite role, based in San Diego, CA, reports directly to the VP of Transportation Systems. The Project Manager (PM) will oversee system integration and implementation projects, managing project schedules, resources, invoicing, budgets, and executive reporting. The PM will also interface with clients and coordinate field activities, including creating Site-Specific Work Plans and supporting installation teams. This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams across the organization to ensure project success. The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience in engineering or technical program management, with 23 years managing complex program schedules. Strong communication, leadership, and coordination skills are essential. Experience in rail/transportation, along with proficiency in Primavera P6 or Zenhub (or similar Kanban tools), is highly desirable. Key Responsibilities: Lead system integration/implementation projects, ensuring all project management functions are executed effectively. Develop, manage, and communicate project schedules, budgets, resources, and progress reports. Coordinate directly with clients and oversee field activities, including creating and managing Site-Specific Work Plans. Conduct daily/weekly stand-up meetings and facilitate discussions on high-value, complex IT delivery projects. Collaborate with team leads to plan and prioritize backlogs, ensuring alignment with overall project deadlines. Break down project roadmaps into clear, prioritized tasks to improve delivery efficiency. Monitor team velocity and capacity; generate progress reports (sprint reports, velocity charts). Work closely with product owners, engineers, and PM teams to align deliverables with project milestones. Proactively identify and resolve risks, impediments, and issues, escalating to senior management when necessary. Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for process efficiency and team productivity. Manage project schedules in Primavera P6 and ensure accurate reporting. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required. 5+ years of experience in engineering or technical program/project management. 23 years managing complex program schedules. Experience in rail/transportation projects preferred. Working knowledge of Zenhub or similar Kanban tools preferred. Proficiency in Primavera P6 strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage client-facing projects. Strong project planning, organizational, and time management skills.
