Transportation Project Engineer

Assist engineers and designers in the development and production of engineering plans and specifications on a variety of transportation projects.

Position Summary:

 

 

 

NV5 is seeking a Transportation Project Engineer for our Alpharetta, GA office. The position will provide engineering design, calculations, CAD support, and project assistance for the Transportation Design group..

Responsibilities:

 

The ideal candidate will provide design support and be able to complete assigned projects on time and within budget. The most frequent and essential work activities include:

 

• Complete roadway design plans with limited supervision.
• Work alone and in small groups.
• Use MicroStation and Inroads/OpenRoads software.
• Assist engineers and designers in the development and production of engineering plans and specifications on a variety of transportation projects.
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills along with familiarity with Microsoft Products such as Excel and Outlook.

 

Requirements:

• BS in Civil Engineering
• 5+ years of previous roadway design or other transportation engineering experience
• GA PE license required (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
• Knowledge of Microstation and Inroads/Openroads software a plus
• GDOT and/or Municipal experience preferred
• Must be willing to travel on occasion
• Must possess or be able to obtain a valid driver’s license prior to employment is preferred

Certifications/Licenses:

• Professional Engineer

• Work will primarily be in the office setting with limited opportunities to be exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
• Work will be primarily working with fingers by picking, pinching, typing, and grasping often with repetitive motion.
• Must have visual acuity for viewing a computer screen, the ability to talk, hear and sit for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to carry, lift and push/pull up to 20 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Weekend and overtime work and/or overnight work and travel may be required.
• Additional physical duties may be required, as necessary.
