A leading transportation and logistics organization is seeking a Transportation Operations Manager to support the oversight and growth of its domestic transportation operations. This role is responsible for managing transportation vendors, supporting carrier relationships, coordinating transportation services, and helping drive operational efficiency across drayage, truckload, and less-than-truckload freight movements. The ideal candidate will bring strong transportation industry knowledge, carrier management experience, and the ability to balance customer service, operational performance, and cost control in a fast-paced logistics environment.
Responsibilities:
* Support daily transportation operations across drayage, FTL, and LTL services
* Assist with carrier sourcing, qualification, pricing negotiations, and relationship management
* Monitor carrier performance and service levels while maintaining transportation cost databases
* Coordinate transportation solutions and resolve service issues, delays, re-routes, and expedited shipments
* Support transportation pricing initiatives and bid management activities
* Develop and maintain transportation procedures, workflows, and operating standards
* Track transportation metrics, KPIs, productivity, and service performance
* Assist with transportation invoicing, reporting, and operational audits
* Partner with customers, internal departments, and transportation providers to improve service and efficiency
* Support continuous improvement initiatives related to transportation operations and profitability
Qualifications:
* 4+ years of transportation, logistics, freight, drayage, trucking, or carrier management experience
* 2+ years of leadership, supervisory, or team management experience
* Knowledge of local drayage operations, FTL, and LTL transportation services
* Understanding of DOT regulations and Hours-of-Service requirements
* Experience with U.S. Transportation pricing bids.
* Ability to establish operating processes and write standard operating procedures (SOP)
* Intermediate computer skills in programs such as Excel and Outlook and at a basic level in MS Word.
* Ability to communicate in English effectively at an intermediate level (speak, read and write) in a business environment.
* High school diploma or equivalent.
