Disclaimer-this position will be considered classified-exempt and "at will."

Under limited supervision of the District Bridge Engineer, the selected applicant will perform professional engineering as the District Bridge Evaluation Engineer. Will perform structural load analysis of bridges, requiring the ability to apply modern bridge theory and principles, calculating complex mathematical equations, and troubleshooting results to ensure validity. Will supervise and train evaluation staff in the same. Will review and approve new bridge design work of internal and contracted professional engineers by checking plans and performing structural load analysis. Provide assistance, supervision, and guidance to subordinates. This position requires travel; therefore a valid drivers license is required. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

REQUIRED TRAINING/EDUCATION

• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of West Virginia (or licensed in another state with the ability to obtain WV P.E. registration by comity within 6 months of hire)

• Bachelor's degree in civil, electrical, mechanical, industrial, petroleum, mining, environmental, engineering technology, or a related engineering field from an ABET-accredited program.

Note: For the training/education, the qualifying degree must be verified before the employee may be considered for employment. Please attach a degree transcript or diploma to the application.

RECOMMENDED EXPERIENCE

• Seven + (7) years of progressive, professional civil engineering experience.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT

Travel may be required; therefore, a valid driver's license is required.

Preferred experience: At least three (3) years of post-licensure experience performing complex design/construction management or supervisory engineering duties.
