    A growing civil engineering firm is seeking a Transportation Designer to join its team in Lawrence or Worcester, MA. This is a versatile opportunity for early-career engineers to gain exposure across a variety of transportation and civil disciplines, including highway, roadway, bridge, and land development projects. With involvement from planning through construction, this role is ideal for someone looking to develop both technically and professionally without being confined to a narrow scope of work.

    The Role

    As a Transportation Designer, you will contribute to a range of municipal and state agency projects. The role includes preparation of plans and technical documentation, support for permitting, and involvement in client and stakeholder interactions. You’ll have the opportunity to work on diverse project types and participate in different phases of delivery, including QA/QC and public engagement support.

    Responsibilities

    • Collaborate with staff, clients, and stakeholders to develop and deliver transportation solutions

    • Prepare conceptual and final designs for municipal and state agency projects

    • Create construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates for bidding

    • Support the preparation of local, state, and environmental permitting documents

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field

    • 0–5 years of relevant experience

    • EIT certification is a plus

    • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

    • Self-motivated with the ability to manage individual tasks

    • Detail-oriented with a proactive mindset

    • Experience with AutoCAD, 3D software, and/or HydroCAD is a plus

    • Experience with MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer is a plus
