Our client has an immediate opening for a detail-oriented, motivated Transportation Design Engineer to join its team in Indianapolis. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to transportation projects, including roadway rehabilitation and reconstruction, intersection improvements, traffic signals, roundabouts, drainage systems, and multi-use paths.
The ideal candidate brings strong communication and problem-solving skills, sound engineering judgment, and a collaborative approach to project delivery.
Develop preliminary and final engineering deliverables for transportation projects.
Perform roadway and drainage design using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
Lead assigned design tasks and provide guidance to civil engineering staff.
Evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques and criteria using sound judgment.
Apply applicable AASHTO and Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) standards, procedures, and specifications.
Collaborate with team members, communicate effectively, and maintain positive working relationships.
Support projects involving Local Public Agencies (LPAs) and INDOT.
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
1–3 years of professional engineering experience.
Knowledge of INDOT standards, procedures, and specifications.
Experience using AutoCAD and Civil 3D for roadway and drainage design.
Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and problem-solving ability.
Ability to work independently on assigned tasks and contribute effectively within a team.
Experience working on LPA and INDOT projects.
Familiarity with AASHTO standards and requirements.
Experience developing preliminary and final engineering deliverables.
Design experience involving traffic signals, roundabouts, curb ramps, sidewalks, multi-use paths, or drainage systems.
Utility coordination experience.
Professional Engineer (PE) license in Indiana, or the ability to obtain licensure within six months.
Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification.
