    Description

    **THIS IS AN ONSITE POSITION**

    Supports daily transportation operations with a primary focus on LTL and Truckload claims, carrier relationships, freight classification, routing guides, preferred carriers, Accounting support, EDI unmatched transactions, and prior-day pickup review. Works closely with carriers, carrier account representatives, Accounting, Customer Service, and Operations to research and resolve transportation issues and ensure timely follow-through.

    Key Outcomes Expected 

    Manage LTL and Truckload freight claims from identification through final resolution, including documentation, filing, tracking, disputes, and status communication.

    Maintain carrier relationships and work directly with carrier account representatives on claims, service issues, billing discrepancies, credits, and escalations.

    Create, maintain, and update routing guides, preferred carrier information, service levels, and account-specific routing requirements.

    Research NMFC classifications, freight class, reclassification, weight, dimension, and related billing discrepancies.

    Audit carrier invoices for accuracy, including rates, freight class, accessorial charges, duplicate charges, and other billing discrepancies; support Accounting with research, credits, corrections, and supporting transportation documentation.

    Review and research EDI unmatched transactions and coordinate resolution with carriers and internal teams.

    Review yesterday's pickups daily; identify missed, delayed, or unconfirmed pickups and follow up until resolved.

    Provide Transportation Customer Service assistance as needed, including tracking, carrier communication, pickup/delivery issues, appointments, and shipment exceptions.Serve as the primary point of contact for carriers regarding claims and service issues, fostering positive and collaborative relationships.

    Critical Skills and Knowledge

      Strong working knowledge of LTL transportation, freight claims, NMFC/freight classing, and carrier operations

      Knowledge of Truckload transportation and claims processes

      Strong carrier relationship management and professional communication skills

      Ability to research and resolve complex shipment, billing, and service discrepancies

      High attention to detail, organization, ownership, and follow-through

      Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines and work cross-functionally

      Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and sense of urgency

    Education and Experience 

    High school diploma or equivalent required; related college education or industry training preferred

    Previous experience in transportation, logistics, freight brokerage, or supply chain operations required

    LTL transportation experience required; freight claims experience strongly preferred

    Experience working with carriers and carrier account representatives preferred

    Knowledge of NMFC classifications, routing guides, freight audit/billing, and transportation EDI preferred

    Experience with a Transportation Management System (TMS) and Microsoft Office preferred

     

    Physical Demands and Work Environment: Primarily sedentary office position requiring prolonged sitting and computer use. Must be able to communicate by phone, email, and business systems and perform standard office functions.
