    Cornerstone Systems is seeking a Transportation Capacity Coordinator for our Memphis Headquarters. The Transportation Capacity Coordinator plays an important role within our transportation operations team by securing reliable carrier capacity, negotiating competitive purchase rates, and ensuring the successful execution of daily freight movements.
    This position serves as a key connection between our internal teams and third-party carriers. The ideal candidate is a confident communicator and relationship builder who thrives in a

    WHAT YOU’LL DO
    • Negotiate competitive freight purchase rates with carriers while supporting company margin and revenue goals.
    • Plan, route, tender, and monitor daily freight movements from pickup through delivery.
    • Track shipments in transit and proactively communicate updates to internal teams and customers.
    • Serve as a primary point of contact between internal stakeholders and third-party carriers.
    • Identify potential service failures, delays, or capacity issues and work quickly to implement effective solutions.
    • Maintain accurate shipment records, tracking information, and load updates within the transportation management system.
    • Verify carrier insurance coverage, safety ratings, authority, and tracking information before dispatch.
    • Communicate load details, appointment information, equipment requirements, and customer expectations clearly to carriers.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers and other transportation providers.
    • Expand the carrier network through cold calling, market research, referrals, and relationship development.
    • Match available carrier capacity with current and future customer freight opportunities.
    • Identify dependable carriers and develop long-term partnerships that support network growth.
    • Monitor market conditions, capacity trends, and carrier pricing to support informed purchasing decisions.
    • Collaborate with Sales, Operations, and other internal teams to provide reliable and profitable transportation solutions.
    • Demonstrate a strong sense of urgency while managing multiple shipments, priorities, and deadlines.

    WHAT YOU’LL NEED
    • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Logistics, or a related field preferred.
    • 1–3 years of experience in logistics, transportation, freight brokerage, carrier sales, or account management preferred.
    • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Confidence handling a high volume of phone and email communication.
    • Effective negotiation and relationship-building skills.
    • Strong customer-service mindset with the ability to communicate proactively and professionally.
    • Ability to identify problems, make sound decisions, and respond quickly to service challenges.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
    • Comfortable working independently while collaborating effectively with a team.
    • Experience using transportation management systems preferred.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
    • Ability to accommodate occasional schedule or on-call flexibility based on business needs.
