Transportation Analyst

Kalon Executive Search is partnering with a growing organization in the manufacturing and consumer products industry to identify an experienced Transportation Analyst. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented supply chain professional who enjoys coordinating material movements, working with ERP systems, and collaborating across warehouse, manufacturing, logistics, and distribution teams.

The Transportation Analyst will be responsible for planning and coordinating the movement of raw materials, ingredients, packaging materials, semi-finished goods, and finished products between warehouse, manufacturing, distribution, and third-party logistics locations. This position will ensure materials are available in the right quantities and at the right time to support production and customer fulfillment.

***This is an onsite position in San Diego, CA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate daily and weekly transfers of raw materials, ingredients, packaging materials, and finished goods between warehouse, manufacturing, distribution, and third-party logistics locations.
  • Create and manage Stock Transfer Orders (STOs) within SAP based on material requirements and production needs.
  • Coordinate truckload planning and transportation activities to ensure materials and products move efficiently between locations.
  • Monitor material requirements and inventory availability to ensure the right materials and quantities are delivered at the right time.
  • Work closely with Production, Warehouse, Distribution, Logistics, and Planning teams to coordinate material movements and resolve issues.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for internal teams and external logistics partners regarding transportation and material transfer activities.
  • Proactively communicate material availability issues, transportation risks, delays, and other potential disruptions and recommend solutions.
  • Monitor transfers and shipments to ensure timely delivery and support uninterrupted manufacturing and distribution operations.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation related to material movements, inventory transactions, and transportation activities.
  • Ensure material movement processes and documentation comply with applicable cGMP, SOP, and regulatory requirements.
  • Use ERP and inventory management systems to maintain accurate material and inventory transactions.
  • Analyze production schedules, bills of materials, inventory requirements, and transfer needs to support effective material planning.
  • Identify opportunities to improve material flow, transportation efficiency, inventory accuracy, and overall supply chain performance.
  • Partner with warehouse and logistics teams to improve processes, reduce delays, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Provide timely and accurate information regarding material availability, shipment status, and transportation requirements to cross-functional partners.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience will also be considered.
  • Two or more years of experience in transportation coordination, material planning, distribution requirements planning, inventory control, production scheduling, or warehouse coordination.
  • Two or more years of hands-on SAP experience.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing, warehouse, logistics, or supply chain environment.
  • Strong understanding of ERP/MRP systems and inventory transactions; experience with SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar systems preferred.
  • Ability to interpret production schedules, bills of materials, inventory requirements, and material demand.
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and record-keeping abilities.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills with the ability to work effectively across multiple departments.
  • Knowledge of cGMP, FDA, or other regulated industry requirements is a plus.
  • Experience in food, dietary supplements, pharmaceuticals, consumer products, or a similar regulated manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues and take initiative to resolve them.
  • Self-motivated, reliable, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation: $68,000-$88,000 base salary, depending on experience
