Transplant Surgeon - Division Chief

The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center Department of Surgery Division of Surgical Transplantation is currently recruiting for an abdominal transplant surgeon to serve as the next Division Chief. The Applicant must be Board Certified in General Surgery have completed a Transplant Surgery Fellowship and be eligible for a Texas Medical License.

The Division has grown to include 8 surgeons performing >400 transplants a year across 3 hospitals on the southwestern medical district campus. The next Division Chief will report to the Chair of the Department of Surgery as well as the Executive Medical Director of the Solid Organ Transplant Service Line. Successful candidates will be committed to patient care, resident fellow, and medical student education, and scholarly activity that advance clinical medicine.

Candidates will be expected to participate in the clinical practice and teaching programs at Clements University Hospital, Parkland Memorial Hospital, and Childrens Medical Center. Educational responsibilities include the clinical training of transplant fellows and general surgery residents. A commitment to basic science or clinical research is essential as is experience in managing a large and diverse transplant team.
